What to Expect
Traveling with a group of 5280 readers is an enriching, enjoyable, and safe way to experience new cultures, people, and places. Your entire trip is guided, planned, and arranged for your enjoyment. Many activities are things you can only do because you’re traveling with 5280. There’s also free time built in for you to explore on your own — and you’re always welcome to skip an activity if you’d rather do something different. Just let your tour director know if you won’t be joining a scheduled outing.
Most meals are included. On the meals you’re on your own for, we’ll point you toward great local suggestions.
5280 trips are filled with dynamic, friendly people. One of the best parts of traveling with us is meeting new travelers — many of whom you’ll already have plenty in common with, since most are fellow readers. Guests often leave with friendships that last well beyond the trip itself.
Physical Requirements
Our tours are active, but not meant to be strenuous.
Expect to be on your feet — walking and standing — for much of the day, indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather and terrain, plus extended time on the motor coach as we travel between destinations. Most days involve a moderate pace with roughly two to three miles of walking total, which may include some hills and stairs.
We’re unable to provide individual assistance to guests with walking difficulties or other personal needs. Our tour director’s role is to ensure the group as a whole has a relaxing, informative journey, and cannot provide ongoing one-on-one assistance to any single guest. Guests who require this kind of support must travel with an able-bodied companion who can provide it.

What is included in the price of these tours?
All tours include roundtrip air from DEN, hotel or cruise accommodations, a fully guided professional tour director and step-on guides, transfers to/from the hotel or ship, meals per itinerary, sightseeing per itinerary, and plenty of free time.
What’s not included in the price of these tours?
Tips and gratuities for your guide and driver, any meals not included, insurance (available for purchase), and any additional sightseeing or admissions not listed in the itinerary.
When should I sign up?
Once you know you want to go on a certain tour, register as soon as possible — these trips sell out on a regular basis. Final payments on most tours are due 90 days prior to departure, but it’s best to register well before that if you can. NOTE: European river cruises regularly sell out 6-9 months prior to departure, so please register as early as possible for those.
What is a typical day on tour?
Travel can be unpredictable, but you’ll be well taken care of. Mornings usually start with included breakfast, followed by sightseeing and leisure time for lunch on your own. Afternoons typically bring more included sightseeing and free time. Your guide will provide insight, guidance, assistance, and humor along the way. You’ll get to know fellow travelers — some from close to home, others from across the country — form new bonds, enjoy meals on your own and in group settings, and find adventures along the way. A little guided touring, a little leisure time, and a whole lot of fun.
What is a typical evening on tour?
Some evenings bring an included group dinner (every night, if you’re cruising!), and some are yours to spend as you like. Your tour director and hotel staff can help you find the perfect dinner spot, or you can track one down yourself. And there’s always time for a drink or two before or after dinner.

About two weeks before departure, you’ll receive a pre-trip travel wallet with everything you need to know — currency info, packing advice, optional tour details, luggage tags, and more. I have a friend who needs to fly from a different airport, or I’d like to fly out early or come back late — is that OK?
Of course! Just tell us where you or your friends and family are flying from, and we’ll book you out of your preferred gateway. Air deviations are no problem if you’d like to leave early or stay later.
